MURFREESBORO,
Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee State University football team defeated North Texas
Saturday afternoon at Floyd Stadium 41-7 for its sixth win of the season to
become bowl eligible six out of the last seven years.
The
MTSU Blue Raiders won their sixth game of the season, led by redshirt –freshman
quarterback Brent Stockstill. His three touchdowns and 322 yards passing helped
the seniors win their last home game of their careers.
The
first score of the game for the Blue Raiders came when junior quarterback
Austin Grammer scrambled 19-yards for the touchdown.
From
then on the Blue Raiders air attack took off. Stockstill threw for three
touchdowns in the half.

The third quarter was a turning point for the
Blue Raiders defense. Senior safety Kevin Byard intercepted a pass from North
Texas quarterback DaMarcus Smith.

This
was Byard’s 18th interception of his career at MTSU, putting him
into the record books by passing the previous leader James Griffin.
“I
can’t describe the feeling I had after the victory,” MTSU running back Jeremiah
Bryson said. “Being able to win my final home game and go to another bowl game
is a dream come true.”
By
winning their sixth game of the year the Blue Raiders have earned a chance to
go to yet another bowl game.
“There
was only one way to finish my career at MTSU,” Bryson said. “I wanted to be
able to remember my last game at MTSU with a win.”

This
will be the seventh out of the last 10 years the Blue raiders have been to a
bowl game. They also have finished the 2015 season tied for first place In the
Conference-USA.
