In the third quarter, the Blue Raiders stayed ahead. They scored another 29 points, while their opponent scored 18, making the score 45-65. MTSU led by 20 points.

In the fourth and final quarter to victory, MTSU scored only 19 points while Ole Miss scored 30, but MTSU still came out ahead. The final score of the game was 75-84, with MTSU pulling out their very first win of the season.

Point Guard Brea Edwards performed her first double-double of the season. She scored 24 points through the course of the game.

Ole Miss Head Coach Matt Insell compared her performance to a car race won by Ty Petty.

“She got everybody else shots and made everyone on her team better, and that’s what a point guard is supposed to do,” said Insell.

“This was the first women’s basketball game I’ve ever been to,” said Nate Mitchell, an MTSU student. “It was a lot more action packed than I had anticipated, and those girls have amazing skills.”

Other players who contributed to the win were Olivia Jones, who scored 17 points; and Abbey Sissom, who scored 15 points.

MTSU is currently 2-3 this season and scheduled to play the University of Kentucky at Murphy Center Complex on Dec 13.
